Following the commission to design a modern 21stCentury Dentist practice for the community of Thorne it quickly became apparent that the specific site called for a sympathetic approach in order for it to successfully enhance and contribute to the immediate area. The site lay in the confines of the conservation area so it was felt important by all parties including the client that the completed building should reflect the historic importance and architecture of the previous Victorian School building, if it could be successfully harmonized with modern day construction techniques and statutory Building Regulation standards.

This was achieved to a high standard both in terms of design, workmanship and compliance with technical standards. Close liaison with Building Control ensured the build process proceeded smoothly to a successful completion on time and on budget, much to the client’s satisfaction.

Use of high quality materials and workmanship has allowed the finished building to blend within the street scene and has provided a positive contribution to the conservation area of Thorne.

The site also lies within a flood risk area and as such measures were taken to help prevent flood damage in the future. These measures consisted of careful consideration of materials, flood defense measures including raising of the Ground floor level.

Constructed within a conservation and flood zone area and Completed within 6 months and in budget. This project was nominated for the 2012 Building Excellence Awards for; "Best Commercial Project over £1million".
